Billy Sunday Fires the Opening Shots on Prohibition

I saw Billy Sunday on March 8, 1916 when he came to Toronto to kick off the Prohibition Campaign. I didn’t like him.

By September 17, 1916 all bars, clubs and liquor shops were closed for the duration of the War.

Toronto was a dry sombre place to return to.
